Our Unique Handicap System & Scoring ---------------------------------------------------------
14and1.com developed our popular 14.1 handicap system with 4 major points in mind.
#1 - The system needs to run itself without any outside influences so that the handicap system is on the same page on the nationwide platform.
#2 - The system needs to be simply implemented. There will be no keeping track of innings or anything else during league matches. We have developed the system to where you just enter the final score of the matches into the scoresheet and it does the work for you! #3 - The handicap system needs to be very fair and accomodate all skill level players. With our very successful 1st complete season under our belt and hundreds of players testing the system we are very confident you won't find a more fair 14.1 system available!
#4 - The leagues need to be challenging and fun at the same time. We have heard over and over again from players that they can't wait until their next weeks match! 14and1.com league players are having a blast!
NOTE: below is only an overview of the popular 14and1.com handicap system, the full system is disclosed for serious league operators when you order the start-up kit from the "Set Up a New League" page.
The unique 14and1.com straight pool handicap system allows players of ALL skill levels to participate and have an equal chance of winning against all other skill level players. Simple but yet very effective. All NEW 14and1.com league players start as a B level player, once a player has an established handicap then going forward they always play with their last recorded handicap. The handicap assigned has the number of balls they need to win , the games will be to the highest of the 2 players handicaps. The difference between the "balls needed" is assigned as the spot.
Scoring will be on the beads or table counter and played and scored with BCA 14.1 rules.

****STARTING YOUR STRAIGHT POOL LEAGUE****: -----------------------------------------------------------------------
See our page "Setup a New League" to get started!
A minimum of 7 players and maximum of 12 players are required to form a 14and1.com straight pool league. Leagues are set up that each player plays all other players twice , chart below shows length of leagues according to number of players and based on once a week league play..
7 players = 14 weeks 8 players = 14 weeks 9 players = 18 weeks 10 players = 18 weeks 11 players = 22 weeks 12 players = 22 weeks
The final standings of any particular league is determined by overall points won during the entire league , win points and bonus points added together according to the chart provided in your 14and1.com start-up package.
****14and1.com Nationals**** ----------------------------------------
Each league is also a 14and1.com Nationals qualifier event, the top 2 finishers from all leagues earn an invite into the 14and1.com Nationals. These qualifiers will pay a $125 entry fee into the Nationals from their local prize winnings if they want to attend the Nationals.
****14.1 RULES****: --------------------------
The players will lag for the opening break using two balls of equal size and weight (either two cue balls or two non-striped object balls). With the balls in hand behind the head string, the balls are shot simultaneously to the foot rail and back to the head of the table. Striking the side rails or pockets is an automatic loss of the lag. It is permissible to strike the head rail. The player whose ball is closest to the head rail wins the lag provided the ball did not scratch, hang in the pocket, or touch the side rails during the lag. If either player’s lagged ball crosses over the center of the table onto the opponent’s side during the lag, it is a foul and automatic loss of the lag. If the lagged balls make contact with each other, the lag is void and a new lag is required. If both players violate automatic-loss lag rules, or if the tournament director is unable to determine which ball is closer to the head rail, the lag is a tie and is replayed. Rules used by 14and1.com leagues and tournaments are the standard rules found on the BCA website , follow this link for complete 14.1 rules http://www.bca-pool.com/play/tournaments/rules/rls_141.shtml .
****CODE OF CONDUCT**** --------------------------------------
I believe it is important to uphold a code of conduct for our organization , this code will be at the discretion and upheld by each league operator and 14and1.com. We should conduct ourselves in a professional manner when playing and enjoying our great game , no cussing , smacking things , arguing , etc...etc... any unsportsmanlike conduct will NOT be tolerated and result in membership termination.
Any attempt at sandbagging will lead to an immediate termination by your league operator or 14and1.com, this player will be forever banned from playing in any 14and1.com sanctioned league or event..
Who pays the table time during match league play is up to individual leagues as to how they want to set that up , maybe the best way is to split table time? , or maybe the room owner will set a flat rate for the league players? 14and1.com has no control over this issue and will have to be worked out within your individual league.
