THE MISSION: . Our mission is to provide a single format for 14.1 leagues to be created all across the USA in an organized governing format that lends appeal to ALL players of any skill level. As we have watched bar box handicap leagues sky rocket over the years to incredible levels , I believe the game of straight pool CAN and WILL be revived to incredible levels if we take the bull by the horns and create an organized effort.
I have created a handicap system for 14.1 league play that I believe is fair to ALL skill levels. If we can create multiple leagues all across the USA all competing for a common goal then I believe we will have the bull by the horns. As the leagues grow the players will follow , but we must unite under one roof and conduct ourselves in a total organized manner. Our goals should be -
#1 to have a 14.1 organization for all players to participate and enjoy the game.
#2 to grow the game of straight pool by having a inviting format that will introduce new players to the game.
#3 make a very conscious attempt as to our "image" , our league players should conduct themselves in a professional manner during 14and1.com league play , no cussing , throwing stuff , hitting stuff etc..etc...lets enjoy our game showing great sportsmanship , we have a chance to carve our own image , lets do it right.
ABOUT ME: --------------- Let me introduce myself, my name is Kevin Vidal , as a kid the love for straight pool struck me back in the 70's. Visiting the local pool halls and watching those old timers play 14.1 was simply amazing to me , hooked ever since , I was convinced it was truly the Game of Masters , and at that time I never thought the game of straight pool would fade , I was wrong. I took up the game after watching those amazing runs as a teenager , as time went on it was noticeably harder to find anyone to play , there wasn't many playing the game , even for the table time , it seemed my age group was just into what they see on TV , which of course was 9 ball. There was bar leagues starting up from Miller Lite which was 8 ball , there was the 3-6-9 ring games , which again was 9 ball , I couldn't find anyone to play straight pool with! , which was a sad period for me , the older guys had pretty much retired from playing any longer , and it seemed my age group just did not have the patience to learn the game , they liked the fast paced games , especially with an element of luck. I imagine anyone who played some back then can tell you pretty much the same story , its time we change this trend! I was always involved in organizing local tourneys and developed handicap systems for local leagues , developing handicap systems and organizing leagues is nothing new to me, back in the late 80's I helped devise a handicap system to form a local league with some others that wanted to break away from the APA , that league now has 30 teams today and going strong.
